OpenAI and Jony Ive face substantial technological difficulties as they work to create a screen-less, AI-powered device, according to the Financial Times
Back in May, OpenAI acquired io, the device startup established by the fabulous Apple developer with OpenAI chief executive officer Sam Altman, for $ 6 5 billion. At the time, Altman declared that Ive and his team would aid the company “create a new generation of AI-powered computers,” while Bloomberg reported that the first gadgets to emerge from the offer were set up to release in 2026
The FT now states that OpenAI and Ive goal to create “a palm-sized tool without a screen that can take audio and visual hints from the physical setting and respond to customers’ demands.” But unsolved concerns around the tool’s “character,” just how it takes care of privacy, and computing infrastructure may postpone the launch.
For example, one resource informed the FT that as opposed to waiting for a particular verbal timely, the gadget would take an “constantly on” approach– yet the team has supposedly battled to guarantee it just speaks up when useful and finishes its conversations at the ideal time.
